Milton, MA (Future150) -- Milton High School star Juwan Gooding has been known as a rising hoops prospect in the northeast since his days as an elementary school star.
However, like many prospects before him, there is reasonable doubt as to whether or not a prospect at that age will ever truly pan out by the time high school and college comes around.
Well, it looks like the long time hype surrounding Juwan Gooding is justified. In fact, it looks like he is taking his game to an even higher level now that he is growing older.
The rising sophomore and 2015 prospect used his freshman season at Milton to showcase just how explosive of a prospect he is. After averaging 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals while earning 2012 All-Bay State League honors, he is now ready to show fans outside of Massachusetts that he is an elite player.
The 6'0", 160-pounder may be projected as more of point guard for his future at the college level, but right now, he is looks at himself as a more dynamic player.
"My outside shot, scoring, and getting to the hoop are my biggest strengths right now. Also, being able to play both point guard and shooting guard is something I can easily do."
He also is aware of what he needs to improve on if he wants to continue to move up in the national rankings.
" I need to improve in every aspect of my game, especially finishing with my right hand and getting stronger."
He has a great chance to improve his status among recruting services and college coaches this summer with a jam-packed schedule of events he will be attending.
As for next year, he is thinking about attending a prep school in order to better himself academically as well as athletically. However, if he remains at Milton High School, look for him to continue building a star-studded hoops resume all season long.
