Memphis, TN (Future150) -- With such a deep talent pool like the city of Memphis, it is tough for a player to distance himself and stick out amongst the rest of players. However, St. George’s (Tenn.) wing Justin Wertner is starting to make a name after a quick start this season.

Wertner, a sophomore, is averaging 23 points, 10 rebounds and three assists so far, but he still is yet to be satisfied with his game.

“I’m working on getting to the basket and free-line more right now,” he told Future150. “I’m also going to work on getting stronger.”

To this point in his short career, the 6-foot-5 shooter has drawn a couple of comparisons to high name guys that have perfected one skill: shooting.

“The player I compare myself to the most is Nuk Stauskas from Michigan because he is a great shooter and has a long frame. He also crashes the boards and knows how to run the break. People have also mentioned Jimmer Fredette because of my craftiness around the basket.”

Jacksonville, Utah State, Tulsa, and Utah have already expressed early interest in Wertner, but other schools will soon follow. In fact, he plans to visit several schools in the spring.

“My AAU coach and I plan to take some unofficial visits to some schools. I know we want to see Vanderbilt, Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, UAB, and Memphis for now,” he explained.

He also noted that Jacksonville is showing the most interest right now, but no schools are sticking out.

If Wertner’s good start continues into the spring and summer, you will definitely see this long, lanky shooter drawing more interest.
Wertner is a four-star according to Future150.
