Mobile, AL (Future150) -- At some point in time, players have to accept their own roles for the team to be successful. Joshua Hill, a 2016 big man out of Mobile’s Faith Academy (Ala.), should have a very successful career. But right now, he is learning to make an impact as a role player.
Hill is currently averaging eight points and five rebounds as a freshman, but with every game out, he gets better.
“My season is going pretty well,” he told Future150.com. “I’m the youngest player on our roster, but I’m really looking forward to gaining some experience in these last few weeks heading into the playoffs.”
Faith Academy made it to the Final Four of the 5A state tournament last season, as they were led by Future150 alum and now East Tennessee State guard Petey McClain. Before too long, Hill will take the reins at his school.
At 6-foot-4 and 220-pounds, Hill already has the mold of a great big man in the future. In fact, he says he resembles one NBA player in particular.
“I play like Zack Randolph. He is a big, strong forward that can put the ball on the floor and shoot and also post up.”
Hill also has the ability to extend his game to the perimeter.
“I can knock down the mid-range jumper and I am really good with my back to the basket. But my weaknesses are my foot-speed and jumping ability. I need to work on my ball-handling, too,” he explained.
Once the high school season concludes, Hill will turn to the AAU scene. He has big hopes for the spring and summer.
“I don’t have any schools looking at me right now, but I hope to pick up some interest from some schools while playing with the Alabama Dream this summer.”
