Atlanta, GA (Future150) -- Jordan Hollins’ high school career has only just begun, but it’s obvious his development will be a fun one track. The Paideia (GA) freshman guard is putting in the hours off the court to ensure his improvement on it.
Hollins has a long-term goal of playing college basketball, but his mind appears to be focused on the present, and rightly so. It’s easy to see that he has a grasp over what he needs to do now in order to see positive results in the future.
His commitment to learning at such a young age is impressive.
“My coach teaches here as well, so I try to hang out with him a lot of the time during breaks at school. We watch film together, and I try to learn what I do well and learn from my weaknesses, and just try to get better,” he said.
Kids who place serious value in other coaches’ suggestions and criticism are the same kids who value their own development, and Hollins is one of them.
His goals reflect that trait, too.
“My goal right now is to learn as much as I can as a freshman and really just try to be the possible player I can be.”
Owning a lanky 6'3" frame, Hollins compares himself favorably to a Lou Williams type and said his length is a serious factor defensively.
Offensively, Hollins describes himself as an all-around versatile player who likes to get his teammates involved.
“I feel like I can pass well and score when I need to. I like to shoot pull up jumpers, and I have no problem breaking my man down and getting to the rack.”
That balance between scoring and facilitating will be an important one for him moving forward, as his coach has told him he may have him playing any one of the three perimeter positions.
It’s a long way down the road, but Hollins mentioned the University of Georgia as a dream school. His development will dictate his level, but the mentality of this young freshman bodes well for him moving forward.
The Future150 camp alum is a guy who we can label as not only a basketball player, but also a basketball student.
