Louisville, KY (Future150) -- All college basketball fans are aware of the prominence of the state of Kentucky right now. With two Final Four teams and the reigning NCAA champion hailing from the state of Kentucky, basketball is at an all-time high in the Commonwealth. And it’s only getting better.
While most are paying close attention to John Calipari and Rick Pitino, young players are making names for themselves, too. In fact, a pure shooter is emerging from Louisville.
Jordan Brangers, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard out of Louisville-Eastern High School, continues to play himself towards college basketball.
He has yet to receive a scholarship offer, but many schools are showing high interest. Belmont, College of Charleston, Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Gardner-Webb, Georgia State, Liberty, and Army are among the schools involved with Brangers right now.
“I like Gardner-Webb and Georgia State right now,” Brangers began. “They are recruiting me very well and they are keeping good tabs on me.”
Brangers says he plans to visit both schools during the busy summer. After the visits, he could come away with his first offer.
As a pure shooter, Brangers compares himself to one of the best shooters the high school game has witnessed in quite some time.
“I like to compare myself to Austin Rivers. I look for my shot first, and then I can drive. I also feel like I have a quick first step, much like him,” he explained.
Despite having a nice first step, the rising senior feels there is room for improvement in his repertoire.
“I think my weakness is getting to the basket. I want to work on getting deeper into the defense.”
Brangers had a huge May, as he dropped over 30 points in three different games at an adidas event. Since then, colleges have taken him more seriously.
However, this will not hurry-up his recruiting process. The Brangers family expects the recruitment to last a little while longer.
“I won’t make a decision till after my high school season. I want to make the best decision for me.”
