Phoenix, AZ (Future150) -- 2019 G Jeron Artest of Hillcrest Prep (AZ) made the long trip to Atlanta this summer to participate in Future150's "The Summit" Camp. The camp was loaded with stud prospects in the 2019 and 2020 classes, and Artest was no doubt one of the top-10 prospects in the gym.
As the son of former NBA star Metta World Peace (aka Ron Artest), it is easy to only recognize Artest as just that, and that only. Once he steps on the court though, you can see that this young man has big time talent and has a shot of becoming a star one day himself.
"I'm a creative playmaker and I make shots on a consistent basis," Artest said. "My physicality at my position and understanding of the game should translate (to the next level) very well."
There is certainly no doubt that Artest can make shots on a consistent basis. One of the best three point shooters we saw throughout all of our summer events, he can shoot the ball with the best of them in his class.
As his name continues to fly under the radar, Artest has had Air Force, Nevada, New Mexico, Saint Louis, Stanford, UC Irvine, and Wyoming show interest in him recently. Artest's college expectations don't stop there though:
"UCLA, Arizona, Kentucky, Gonzaga, Kansas, Stanford, Oregon, Arizona State," Artest listed when asked if he had any schools he would like to see recruit/offer him at some point down the line. "Go big or go home, I'm working my way up and working harder."
As he continues to work hard, we will certainly be following Artest's upcoming junior season at Hillcrest Prep closely. Stay locked in with Future150 as we keep you updated on the progress of all our standout alumni!
