Charlottesville, VA (Future150) -- High school and AAU coaches play a big role in a player's recruitment these days, as they field calls from coaches, assist in visits, and help control the incoming schools.
With that being said, Jarell Martin hasn't had much contact with with colleges coaches. Instead, he has been focused on getting better this summer.
"The main things I am working on this summer are playing tougher and hitting open shots," he explained.
While he hasn't paid much attention to the schools, UCLA, Tennessee, Baylor, LSU, and Louisville are among the schools pursuing him the hardest at this point.
Martin also acknowledges interest from Alabama, Marquette, St. John's and others.
With his list of suitors growing each day, it is hard for Martin to decipher which colleges fit him the best. But he doe shave certain things he is looking for in a college program.
"I want someone who is dedicated and works hard," Martin said of his factor in a head coach and coaching staff. "As far as the school and team, how many guys play my position, how the team plays the game, TV time, that will all go into my decision."
The 6-foot-8 forward does not have a timetable for a decision.
Expect him to be a very popular player throughout the month of July.
