Forestville, MD (Future150) -- Heading into the HoopGroup Reading Tip-Off Showcase last weekend, Future150 didn't know much about this season's Bishop McNamara (MD) squad. As soon as their game started againt a veteran laden Berks Catholic (PA) team, that all changed.
From start to finish, freshman point guard Jamir Moultrie carved apart Catholic's older, more experienced guards. After his team came away with an impressive 52-44 victory in a hostile environment, it was evident who the star of the contest was.
After scoring 27 points on 9-15 shooting from the floor, the 6-foot-1 point guard was named MVP of the contest, and left many in the gym extremely impressed with his skills.
A muscular guard with good burst, Moultrie has fantastic end to end speed. When he wasn't getting to the basket on the break, he was knocking down contested jump shots all over the floor, making life miserable for Berks Catholic.
He also showed the ability to be a lockdown defender as well, disrupting the offense with active hands and quick instincts.
Detroit, IUPUI, Miami (FL), Old Dominion, Texas, Towson & Vanderbilt have all inquired about the freshman stud so far, but with continued success, many more programs will be getting in line.
