MYRTLE BEACH, SC (Future150) -- After a crazy sequence of events, it appears that top 2017 guard Jalek Felton has verbally committed to North Carolina. This was originally reported by announcers at the Beach Ball Classic where Felton's high school team, Mullins (SC) took on Northland (OH). The news has since been confirmed by Team Felton AAU's Twitter account and Instagram.

The commitment is a nice get for the Tar Heels, as the sophomore guard is a shifty, slash-first guard. He can make all kinds of plays around the rim and is a very physical leader for his team. The ties for Felton to Carolina are easy to spot, as his uncle, Raymond, was a Tar Heel from 2002-2005, and was a key member of Roy Williams' first championship at UNC in 2005.

The Tar Heels were the only school to offer the sophomore so far, but he had heavy interest from other high-major schools like Florida, Kansas and Louisville.

Felton had 33 points and six rebounds today as his Mullins High School team lost to Northland (OH) 79-63 today. In three games at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, Felton averaged 38 points per contest.

On Saturday night, Jalek announced via Twitter that he would unofficially visit UNC January 5th.
