Greenville, SC (Future150) -- 2017 PG Iziah James of Legacy Charter (SC) has been working his way up towards becoming a D1 basketball player even since he was twelve years old, according to one of his coaches, James Simpkins.

"I have known and coached Iziah since he was twelve years old," Coach Simpkins said. "He has grown so much as a player and a person."

You would have to think Coach Simpkins would be telling the truth if you look at James' recent list of schools who have been coming in contact with him, showing interest.

"I have been recieving interest from USC Upstate, UNC-Asheville, UT-Chattanooga, Georgia Southern, The Citadel, UTEP, Wright State, Murray State, and IPFW," James said. "I also have an offer from Maryland Eastern-Shore, and will start planning visits in the spring."

James newly found recruitment is well deserved as he has been a real leader for Legacy Charter which features many mid/high-major prospects including Nic ClaxtonJa'Shaun Smith, and Mohammed Touray. When you can be a vocal leader and have your teammates buy in to what you are telling them, among players of that caliber. You have to be doing something right.

"Iziah's ability, and will to win is contagious to (our team)," Said Coach Simpkins. "He is a very vocal leader on the floor, and is continually growing and maturing into a true floor general."

Just like his coach said, James ability to will a team to win is incredible. Sometimes he will be the most important player during a win, even though he only may have two or three points on the stat sheet.

This was certainly the case over the weekend at the Southeast National Hoops Fest. Legacy Charter was blowing out Phillip O. Berry High school in the first half. But the second half was a different story when Berry HS started drainng triples left and right. It was James who was the vocal leader and tried to calm everyone down and let them know to just keep playing the way they know they could.

Eventually Legacy Charter went on to a comfortable win, and even though James didn't have any eye-popping stats, people realized he was a very key part in the win.

Continue to follow along with Future150 as we continue to track Legacy Charter and James progress throughout the season.
