Atlanta, GA (Future150) -- Prior to his visit to Virginia, many perceived the Cavaliers as the favorite for 2014 Greater Atlanta Christian (GA) power forward Isaiah Wilkins.
However, with other visits planned, the 6-foot-7 athlete was expecting to come away without a decision. That changed on Saturday night.
"Going into the visit, I wasn't planning on committing," Wilkins told Future150.com. "But the visit was great. I got to hang out with the players and met with the coaches."
"I decided that I wanted to commit Saturday night, but I wanted to sleep on it and make sure it was the right decision."
Malcolm Brogdon, who also played at GAC, played a big part in Wilkins' decision. It set a comfortable setting that he was looking for.
"Malcolm helped me out a lot. He didn't pressure me or anything, he just talked about the school. He also told me that Coach [Tony] Bennett is going to challenge me," he explained.
Wilkins had an outstanding summer, as many coaches noted him as one of the most impressive standouts from July. He hopes to impact Virginia early.
"I think I'm going to bring energy. I can play both sides of the ball and I'm versatile, so I can guard different positions."
Wilkins had visits set up to SMU and Miami; he was also considering Memphis and Wichita State.
He is a four-star according to Future150 and comes in at No. 100 overall in the 2014 rankings.
Wilkins joins B.J. Stith to make up the Cavaliers' recruiting class.
