Houston, TX (Future150) -- Texas and Rick Barnes have a nice couple of point guards in Austin right now with Myck Kabongo and Javan Felix, but with Kabongo expected to hit the draft this year, the Longhorns needed another point guard.
Friday night, Texas got that point guard, as well as their first commitment for the Class of 2013.
Isaiah Taylor, a 6-foot-2 point guard at The Village School (Tex.), gave Barnes and his staff a boost on the recruiting trail.
"Texas showed a lot of love and expressed what they wanted in their program clearly," Taylor told Future150.com Friday night. "I have a good relationship with Coach [Rob] Lanier and the whole coaching staff and team."
Taylor chose the Longhorns over Alabama, Creighton, SMU, and Fresno State.
"It feels good [to have a decision]. I have been waiting for this time for awhile and I am glad to say I am a part of something."
With Texas' youth this season, there is the possibility that they will not add any others to this class.
Taylor is a three-star according to Future150.
