Jersey City, NJ (Future150) -- Over the past decade, more and more Canadian prospects have begun to attend high school in the United States in hopes of picking up scholarships and playing division one baskeball.

But players don't always make the move immediately, as St. Laurent (CAN) guard Ben Datro has proven. The Quebec product may only be in his freshman year, but already looks like he could be one of the more talented guards in the next wave of players from across the border.

Datro hasn't quite built the early reputation of fellow countryman Cashius McNeily, mostly due to the fact that he has yet to play major AAU basketball or really spend any time in the states at all.

The 6-foot-1 combo guard was electric last month at St. Anthony's, where he put points up by getting to the rim and knocking down a number of threes. He is solidly built and has the skills to play either position.

The secret may be out on Datro now though, and there's a chance he picks up his first D1 offer this spring if he does play AAU this season. That has yet to be decided, but if it does happen it would be with Brookwood Elite on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit.

Whether it happens this season or next, Datro is going to pick up his first offer sooner rather than later. Don't be surprised to see his stock take off sometime in the near future.
