PICKERINGTON, OH (Future150) -- Sitting out of Saturday night’s game with a thumb injury, Pickerington Central guard Ibi Watson was able to sit back and watch his team cruise to a 100-51 win over Marion-Franklin. After the game, Watson talked his recruitment and his upcoming visits among other things.

One of the first visits the junior listed was Michigan, for the Ohio State game on Feb. 22. Watson talked about the relationship with the Wolverines on Saturday night.

“I’ve been talking to Coach (Bacari) Alexander and he’s a really good guy,” Watson told Future150. “I like the coaching staff and I feel like that would be a good fit.”

Watson also listed interest from Iowa, West Virginia, Dayton and Xavier among other schools. Those were the schools mentioned at the time, but there is no set list of schools he is choosing from.

“I’m trying to keep my options open,” Watson said.

As for what factors will play into his decision, the Pickerington Central star has a list of goals in choosing his future college.

“Just an offense with a lot of freedom, movement and screens and stuff,” Watson said. “Good academics and a coaching staff that is a close family and does a lot for their players.”

The junior transferred from Athens High School to Pickerington Central after last season, and the transition has been a success so far according to the shooting guard.

“It has been great, it is a good group of people here, the teammates care about each other,” Watson told Future150. “Even though we have struggled a little bit to get some wins I feel like we have a good team that can make a good tournament run.”

After having high hopes, the Tigers are currently sitting at just 11-8 as of February 9, just third in the perennially-tough Ohio Capital Conference Ohio division. Watson does not think there needs to be drastic changes to turn the ship around.

“We just need to make some extra plays, get more rebounds, sit down more on (defense), get some steals and play our game,” Watson said.
