LEWISVILLE, TX (Future150) -- The first day of the Winter Jam in Lewisville, Texas showcased talent in different age groups.
Top Players from Day One:
Class of 2019
Bryce Okpoh (Team Texas): High motor forward that can score in a variety of ways. He scored from the block or with the catch-and-shoot midrange jumper, sometimes attacking from the perimeter.
Chris Harris Jr. (Team Texas): Lethal shooter that scores at a high level. Harris Jr. runs the lanes well in transition and finds the open spots in the half court game. He has the ability to create for himself and others.
De'vion Harmon (Team Texas): Athlete that is a force in the press. Scores off putbacks from offensive rebounds and transition. Has a very high motor and seems to be in the right spot when the shot goes up.
Tariq Aman (3-D Sports): Point guard that finishes very well in the lane. Quick guard that can get in the lane when he wants to. Knows how to finish with contact. Went down during the game against Texas Express but was a huge factor early on prior to being hurt.
Class of 2020
Jay Wilson (D1 Basketball): Lengthy forward. Wilson stands about 6'1-6'2 and can put the ball on the floor and score. Was a interior force on defense and finished well with contact. Plays in control even on the perimeter.
Kade Anderson (D1 Basketball): Lockdown defender that excels at getting his teammates involved. Plays very mature for a 7th grader. Doesn't force the issue but gets what the defense gives.
Dakota Sterling (Mighty Kings): Crafty forward that knows how to finish well in the lane. Effective rebounder and handled the ball well in transition. Has this unorthadox crossover that stalls his defender for a little bit then burst in the lane for a layup.
Daveontan Lias (Mighty Kings): One of my favorite players to watch tonight as he brought the intensity on the court. Started the game with a step back three pointer then comes down and gets a deflection which results in a steal on defense. Scores in spurts, and plays tough on defense.
