Jersey City, NJ (Future150) -- The Nebraska Cornhuskers have turned in one of the most successful seasons in recent memory and earned themselves an 11 seed in the West Region for the 2014 NCAA Tournament, where they will be taking on Baylor on Friday afternoon.
The on-court success of the 19-12 Huskers has caught the attention of several highly rated recruits, and they landed a commitment on Monday from one of the best point guard prospects still on the board, St. Anthony (NJ) guard Tarin Smith.
The 6-foot-1 Smith was the catalyst for the Friars this season, averaging 15 points, four rebounds and four assists per game.
A standout in the classroom as well, the 4.0 GPA student-athlete steadily improved over the course of the season, playing extremely well in high profile events such as the 2014 Hoop Hall Classic and 2014 Primetime Shootout, where Future150 took notice of the senior.
A prospect with a high basketball IQ, Smith doesn't get rattled on the floor and does a great job of taking care of the ball. He picks his spots well and is capable of scoring when the situation calls for it.
Smith also held recent scholarship offers from Ole Miss and Duquesne, as well as several other division one programs.
