Houston, TX (Future150) -- Several Future150 alums are giving their last shot at impressing some Division-1 coaches this spring, in hopes of taking the next step up in college basketball and earning a scholarship. Of these players, Bridge Lavey may be working the hardest.

Lavey, a senior who is running with Houston Preps this spring, is drawing attention from several smaller schools, but he is looking for a bigger opportunity.  “I honestly think I can play at a low to mid-major Division-1 school,” Lavey began. “I am a 6-foot-6 shooting guard with a high basketball IQ, and I have a great passion for the game. I think I could be a good fit for a school.”

While he has yet to earn that type of interest, the unsigned senior has heard from several schools, including UT-Tyler, Concordia-Austin (TX), Whittier College, Notre Dame de Namur, Doane College, Oklahoma City, and Coastal Bend.  “Notre Dame de Namur, Doane College, and Oklahoma City are sticking out right now. I like the fact that there is an opportunity to go to college and get my education while playing basketball at the same time.”

A tall shooter, Lavey will make one college very happy to have him, regardless of his division status. Compared to Robbie Hummel, the guard has a good idea of what he could bring to the college game.   “I can shoot the ball and rebound well for my size. But my three-point shooting is my biggest strength. I need to work on getting stronger, though.”

As of right now, Whittier College and Concordia are showing the most interest in the shooter, as Lavey says they are in “heavy” contact right now.  After averaging 16 points and seven rebounds for his high schools squad this season, Lavey believes he could come in and produce right away.

“I’m looking for a school that I could come out and get playing time my freshmen year,” he explained. “I also would like the possibility of becoming a graduate assistant in the future. Until then, I will pursue business or marketing in college.”

There is no specific time for Lavey to make a decision, but before he does so, the senior would like to take-in a few more campuses with school visits. “I plan to visit Coastal Bend and Notre Dame de Namur within the next few weeks; I have visited UT-Tyler and Concordia. After that, I would prefer to sign as soon as possible.”

Where will Bridge Lavey end up?
