Houston, TX (Future150) -- Some of the top performers of the weekend in Houston laced up their shoes and competed in the annual Top 40 All-Star Game at "The Gym" in Humble, Texas. Here's who impressed us most...
Marlin Davis, 2016 PG: The 6-foot lead guard is a playmaker. He runs his team well, and knows how to pick his spots when to score. He has solid half court vision and can rack up assists in a hurry. Developing shooter as well.
Ivan Medina, 2014 SF: A versatile 6-foot-4 wing, Ivan is a crafty prospect. He knows how to score using both hands and loves to play physical defense. He is capable of knocking down jump shots out to 18 feet and just as capable of slashing to the basket and scoring against contact.
Matthew Williams, 2015 SF: Already possessing the body of a college player at 6-foot-6, 205-pounds, it's only a matter of time until he puts it all together. He can knock down shots out to the three-point line, has solid ball skills, and is a lockdown defender. High upside prospect.
Kyle Brown, 2015 PG: One of the most fun kids to watch at camp this past weekend was the 5-foot-11 jet. He is an entertaining ball-handler who has plenty of wiggle in his game. He is very good at setting up teammates for scoring opportunities and loves to get out and run on the fast break.
Garrett Shelton, 2016 SG: One of the most athletic prospects in the camp was the 6-foot-3 wing. He stood out most when he was slashing to the basket and rising up to challenge any defender in his way. Once he develops a consistent jump shot, the sky is the limit for the rising sophomore.
Royce Hamm, 2017 PF: One of the youngest prospects in the camp was also one of the most impressive. The 6-foot-6 post prospect runs the floor extremely well for a big man and was dunking anything he could close to the rim. He grew five inches this past year and is still growing. High upside.
Hunter Janacek, 2016 SG: The 6-foot-3 wing is an extremely crafty player, and he showed that this weekend. He uses his high basketball IQ to make the right play and is a deadly shooter when left open. An unselfish player, Hunter has developed well since we saw him last August.
Edward Stoneham, 2014 SG: The 6-foot shooter was an assassin from the outside all weekend. In the all-star game, he knocked down several three-point baskets, solidifying his reputation as a lights-out shooter. A skilled ball-handler, Edward has the ability to play both guard positions on the floor.
Donovan Byrd, 2016 PG: Due to his athleticism and open court speed, Donovan plays much bigger than his 5-foot-9 frame suggests. He loves to attack the basket and finish over defenders. He is also an intense on-ball defender who is always a threat to shut down star offensive players.
Clayton Crook, 2015 SG: The 6-foot-2 wing has excellent shot mechanics on his jumper, and the lift he gets is a rarity at the high school level. It enables him to score over defenders bigger than him, and he showed that, knocking down mid-range shots all weekend. Fun transition player to watch as well.
