Taylors, SC (Future150) -- High Point University received some nice news on Wednesday, as they received a commitment from Davaris McGowens.
McGowens, a 6-foot-5 forward out of Eastside High School (SC), made his pledge to the Panthers on the first day of the Fall Signing Period.
"I love the coaches and the players, and the style of play fits me well," he told Future150.com following his commitment on Wednesday. "I feel like I fit in well there."
The High Point coaches can only thank themselves for receiving McGowens' commitment, as he says they stood out amongst the rest.
"High Point recruited me extremely hard. It only made sense. I also feel like I have a chance to come in and make a big impact."
A member of the Carolina Hurricanes on the AAU circuit, Future150 had the chance to see McGowens play several times. What will he bring to the Panthers' squad? We agree with what he says:
"I'll bring hard work and leadership."
The South Carolina product was also considering Gardner Webb and Charleston Southern.
After his commitment, the athlete was very emotional, as his dreams are now becoming a reality.
"This is the best feeling ever. I've always dreamed of playing basketball at the next level, and now I will get to do that," he explained.
McGowens is a two-star according to Future150.com.
