Pottsville, PA (Future150) -- One of the most explosive scorers in the state of Pennsylvania last season was Shenandoah Valley (PA) guard Joel Santana. The 5'8" super-scorer shined brightest in the month of March, leading his Blue Devils to the state quarterfinals, the school's deepest state tournament run since 1977. After averaging 22.5 points and earning Republican & Herald Co-Player of the Year honors, he also earned second team all-state recognition at the class A level.
After showing out at the 2016 Future150 Pennsylvania Camp, he's off to a blazing start this winter as well. His team is currently 3-0, ranked eighth in the state rankings in their classification, and he's put up scoring outputs of 37, 26 & 18 points with defenses keying on him.
Having already scored 1,000 career points, he's working on some specific goals for his senior season.
"My team goals this season are to win leagues, districts and a state title. I believe we have the talent to do it. I really want my coaches to get a championship," he told Future150.
He's also working on a few specific aspects of his game as well.
"I've been working a lot on my pull-up jump shot and pull-up three point shot in transition," he went on to say.
In the Schuylkill League, he's earned a reputation for being a vibrant player who loves the moment.
"I like to dance on the court a lot, and talk to the other school's student section," he said.
Right now, he's being monitored by several schools in the Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference, and should hold offers by the end of a gigantic senior season.
Look for Santana to be one of the state's leading scorers this season, and for his recruitment to bloom as he racks up points and wins this winter.
