Springfield, MA (Future150) -- New Jersey powerhouse St. Patrick's may have had to change its name and reopen as The Patrick School (NJ) a few years ago, but one things hasn't changed; they're still one of the best teams in the state.
This year's version seems especially loaded, with high-major prospects like Nick Richards and Jamir Harris leading the way. With a veteran roster in place, sophomore guard Al-Amir Dawes isn't a featured player just yet. That being said, the 6-foot-2 combo guard has showcased some serious talent when he steps on the floor.
"I can run my team well and I can shoot the ball well," Dawes said of his game.
That much was clear at The HoopHall Classic last weekend. Dawes didn't play a ton of minutes, but hit a handful of big shots down the stretch and helped The Patrick School beat a talented Pace Academy (GA) team in double overtime.
Despite being in the early stages of the recruiting process, Minnesota, DePaul, Seton Hall and Rutgers have all offered him, while Villanova is starting to show interest.
Playing with the NJ Playaz this spring, Dawes may be the star on the 16U team this season. If that is in fact the case, his offer list will look much different in the summer than it does right now. Look for him to continue to establish himself as one of New Jersey's top sophomores.
