Lithonia, GA (Future150) -- The D1 recruitment of Future150 camper Robert Hatchett III has begun.
"We heard from Austin Peay," said Coach Robert Hatchett. "They wanted him to go on an unofficial visit, come up for the football game. But he had SAT last Saturday so he couldn't go."
Austin Peay Assistant Coach Jay Bowen is astutely recruiting a true floor general in Hatchett III. The Lithonia High School guard exceled at this year's Atlanta Easter Showcase. He also jumped off the page at the 2014 Summit Camp and the 2014 Birmingham Main Event.
His ball-handling is simple and understated. The court vision is his best asset. Also, Hatchett III is physically strong and difficult to overpower. In fact, Hatchett III is now up to 175 from 155 in the spring.
"His long-distance shooting has strengthened," said Coach Hatchett. "His defense is better."
Hatchett III kicks off his junior season next Tuesday.
"They are preseason #1 in the state for the class," said AAU Coach Hatchett. "Last year we fell short to the Elite 8. We got stronger this year. They are preseason favorite."
This is a wonderful time for Hatchett III to emerge in the crowded Georgia hoops scene.
