Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- Heading into this season, 2015 Clay-Chalkville (Ala.) point guard Hasan Abdullah and his team were looking to push down some barriers. Looking back now, it’s safe to say they made some progress.

Clay-Chalkville won their county tournament, a feat has not happened in several years. They also reached the state regionals, where they ultimately fell. Nevertheless, it was a positive season, according to Abdullah.

“We had a great team. The chemistry was great,” he told Future150.com. “We accomplished some things people haven’t seen at our school in a long time. I have to give my individual success to my teammates, too. If it wasn’t for them, I would not have accomplished what I did.”

A humble and appreciative player, Abdullah is beginning to feel the rewards of his team play and hard work. Georgia State, Murray State, Mississippi State, Samford, Jacksonville State, and LSU are schools showing early interest in the sophomore.

In fact, the 5-foot-10 floor general traveled to Murray State for an unofficial visit last weekend. Abdullah came away impressed.

“The visit was great. I loved the support from the fans. Everyone pays attention to the team. It’s like they are the talk of the town and everything stops when they’re playing. The fans love their basketball. It’s a great feeling to think about possibly playing there one day.”

A visit to Mississippi State may be in the future as well, but as of yet, no plans are set in stone. Until then, Abdullah plans to work on his game and take advantage of the AAU season.

“I want to win every possible tournament we participate in, and, of course, get better as a player overall. I want to improve my shot,” he noted.

Abdullah will run with the Birmingham Ice on the AAU circuit. If he turns in another impressive season just like he did this year in high school, he could see his stock rise through the roof.

Abdullah is a four-star according to Future150.
