Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- Combo guard Jarvis Calhoun is beginning to see exactly what it is like to be a high-profile basketball recruit.
The 6-foot-1, 165-pound scorer used a solid sophomore season at Hewitt-Trussville High School and solid spring outings with his Birmingham Ice AAU program to gain the attention of big-time college programs.
As a sophomore, he led his high school team in scoring at 18.6 point per game. By showing his pure left-handed shooting stroke and an ability to attack the rim all season long, he was named to the 2011-2012 Birmingham News All-North/East Boy's Basketball Team. On the 10 man roster, he was the only underclassman on a senior and junior laden team.
Now that a hectic school year has ended and the laid back summer months have begun, schools are gravitating to the combo guard.
"South Alabama, Murray State, Tennessee Tech, Kennesaw State, Radford, Georgia State, Buffalo, and Samford have offered," he told me.
Not to mention, Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia have all sent out feelers to check out the local prospect.
He now embarks on a journey this summer to get his name out nationally, while emulating one of his favorite players, future NBA draft pick and Duke star Austin Rivers.
He hopes to take no prisoners by being a cold-blooded killer scoring the basketball on the summer circuit much like Rivers, and that should help him gain more suitors during his junior year.
Future150 Camp Series is coming back to Birmingham, AL at Samford University on Sept 22-23, 2012. For players looking to get their name out there and want to get seen, this is place to be. Details and registration
