Boston, MA (Future150) -- Harvard sophomore forward Seth Towns doesn't conform to the status quo. He blazes his own trail. Which is exactly why he chose the Crimson over scholarship offers from Michigan and Ohio State, choosing to not only attain the best education possible, but to help continue to take part in the rise of Harvard basketball under Tommy Amaker.
Now in his sophomore season, he's showing everyone why the four-star prospect was a high-major target. For the season, he's averaging 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, including a December game against then #7 Kentucky, where he put up 25 points and six rebounds.
While Harvard may only be 12-11 on the season, don't be fooled by their record when determing their success or talent level. They are tied for first place in the Ivy League currently with a 7-1 record, and accumulated their losses in tough non-conference matchups, which should benefit them if they can find their way into the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
The 6'7" Ohio native came to our 2014 Future150 Summit Camp, where he showed out all weekend, winning MVP honors. Here's what I had to say about him back then.
"The extremely versatile small forward saved his best for last at camp over the weekend, winning co-MVP honors in the Top 20 All-Star game. The 6-foot-7 wing is an excellent finisher around the rim, is an active rebounder, and can stretch the defense with his shooting ability as well. When his motor is high, he is one of the best wings you will find in the 2016 class."
If Harvard can find their way into the field of 68 next month, don't be surprised if he puts up a big performance or two. Besides, he's always been a high-major talent, after all.
