Houston, TX (Future150) -- Future150 was in Houston, Texas on Memorial Day weekend hosting the annual Memorial Day Classic Tournament at the MI3 Center. Tons of teams from several different states were on hand showcasing their talents.
The 15U Championship game featured OK Run PWP taking home the title in a tough hard fought win over TESA 58-47.
Here are the top performers from the 15U division:
Tristan Wright, 2019 PF (Team Future) - Wright is a four man that possesses a very good frame that lets him bang down low using his strength to his advantage. He rebounded and protected the rim quite well over the course of the weekend. Heading forward Wright will need to work on his conditioning and abilities to finish through contact.
Darius Johnson, 2019 SG (TESA) - Johnson is a lengthy two guard that can wreak havoc on defense with his smothering D and swiping balls out of the passing lanes. Very good decision maker with the ball in his hands, and loves getting to the rim and finishing. His best basketball is still ahead of him.
Misiel Teklai, 2020 PG (Team Texas Shooters) - Teklai was probably one of the best PG's in the entire tournament even after his entire team played up the whole weekend. He couldn't be stopped in the halfcourt as he knocked down jumpers left and right. His main threat was his slashing and finishing abilities. Teklai is speedy fast and finishes very gracefully at the rim. Big future ahead for this young bull, especially if he continues to grow.
Tavon McCorvey, 2019 CG (K-Town All-Stars) McCorvey is a do it all type player who can play both guard positions. He can score both off the bounce and make shots if left open. He has a nice size body and knows how to use it on both ends of the floor. He plays hard on every play and never quits regardless of the score. Competitor is a word that comes to mind when describing his game.
Xavier Keys, 2019 PG (D&S Elite) - Keys was very fun to watch throughout the weekend. He is very vocal on defense and is always looking to make a play on offense. The wiry guard had sequences where he would knock down two or three deep balls in a row and not even think twice about it. He has a very solid overall game, and the outlook of the future is bright for this young guard.
Austin Arnold, 2019 CG (Coast2Coast Elite) - Confidence is the first thing you think of when you watch Arnold play. He was a fantastic team leader throughout the weekend, being vocal and keeping his squad in the game during some tough sequences. His jump shot is beautiful and features a speedy quick release. Heading forward Arnold should work on getting stronger and continue playing with confidence, the kid has plenty of potential.
Seth Hurd, 2019 PF (OK Run PWP) - Hurd may have been the most dominant and athletic four man in the enitre tournament. Known as one of the best rising Sophomore's in the state of Oklahoma, Hurd continued to prove his worth this past weekend. He already has great size at 6'8, and his elite athleticism allows him to dunk almost anything close to the rim. Very bright future for this high major prospect.
Kevon Parker, 2019 SF (K-Town All-Stars) - Parker was impressive throughout the weekend with his smart decision making and finishing at the rim through contact. At this point Parker is a bit undersized for the wing at just under 6 foot tall, but he still was a force on the glass and gave plenty of defense's fits. Solid weekend for the undersized wing.
Calvin Hill, 2019 PG (Boom City Hornets) - Hill is a very competitve lead guard that will do whatever it takes to get his team the win. His court vision was on full display this past weekend as he made plenty of plays for his teammates and even created some scoring oppurtunities for himself. Here is a type of guard you always want on your team, as he always seems to produce positive results.
Spencer LeBryan Bayonne, 2019 SF (Louisiana Gators) - Bayonne is a very versatile player at this stage in his development process. He played the two, three, four, and even the five sometimes. Scoring comes natural to Bayonne and he really knows how to draw the defense in and cause them to foul. As Bayonne grows and continues to get stronger, it will be interesting to see what position he winds up truly playing. Either way, he was a stud this past weekend.
Troy Tisdale, 2020 SG (Hoop Nation Family) - Tisdale simply put the ball in the basket all throughout the weekend. Even though he was playing up and is a few inches under six foot, he still found ways to make plays. With flashy handles and a good jump shot, Tisdale found ways to create space for himself and get points on the board. He could be a special player in a few years if he hits another growth spurt and stays in the gym.
Earl Beal, 2019 F/C (Houston Hawks) - Beal showcased his rim protection abilities throughout the weekend. His finishing skills around the rim were certainly abover average, and he was a glass eater. He basically has everything you want in a center, he just needs to grow and continue to get stronger to reach his true potential.
Jaden Collymore, 2020 C (Texas Inferno) - As a rising freshman Collymore has decent size at about 6'4, he runs the floor extremely well for a big man. His footwork was very impressive for a kid who just got done with middle school hoops. This should help his game translate to the high school level and if he grows a few inches Collymore has a chance to be a solid college prospect.
Michael Adelabu, 2019 SF (Urban Kings) - Adelabu is a solid wing prospect at this stage, standing at 6'1 he can slash the lane and score as well as knock down the three ball. His on-ball defense is solid and he is usually very active on both ends of the floor. You won't see him just standing around very often, like most younger prospects his age.
Jay Wilson, 2020 F/C (Team Texas Shooters) - Wilson was a physical specimen and a handful for opposing frontcourt's to deal with. Already standing at 6'5, Wilson is capable of knocking down the mid-range jumper. His athleticism and rim-protection is what really stood out considering this is a kid who's not even in high school yet.
Hunter Staten, 2019 C (OK Run PWP) - Staten stands at a legit 6'9, and his size allowed him to dominate in the paint throughout the weekend. Staten has soft touch down low and can hit the baby hook shot over either shoulder. He lived on the offensive glass and has a chance to be a special player down the road. OK Run PWP overall is loaded with rising Sophomore prospects. Definitely a team to keep an eye on.
Boston Graves, 2020 SG (Texas Inferno)- Graves is a player we keep seeing on the circuit and every time we see him he gets better. This weekend was no different. Playing up in class has forced him to raise his game and he put on a shooting clinic in one of his teams pool play game knocking down shots from all over the court. As he gets stronger and continues to grow, look for him to become a big time player.
