Houston, TX (Future150) -- Future150 was in Houston, Texas on Memorial Day weekend hosting the annual Memorial Day Classic Tournament at the MI3 Center. Tons of teams from several different states were on hand showcasing their talents.
I-Rise and Team Kemistry had a battle once again in the championship game with I-Rise taking home the championship 56-48 in a barn burner.
Here are the top performers from the 12U division:
Owen Pewee, 2022 SF (I-Rise)- Pewee is a man among boys when he stepped onto the court this past weekend. He was rebounding on both ends, starting the fast break and scoring at will. His athleticism is what stood out the most due to he could do anthing he wanted to his oppontents. His ability to finish through contact is something you just don't see at this age. He was clearly the best player in the 12U age division and he takes home the MVP honor.
Brady Smith, 2022 SG, (I-Rise) Smith was the glue that made his team go. He can do it all and is extremely fundamentally sound. He was able to score on all three levels and played solid defense all weekend long. He plays hard on every play and showed that he can make adjustments from his coaching staff on the fly. He averaged 11 points per game and helped his team win the championship.
Chance White, 2022 G/F (A.W.B.A. Bucks) - White was very impressive with his beautiful jumpshot and ability to bring the ball up the floor and lead his team in transition. He finished around the rim at a high percentage and was a beast on the defensive glass. It is hard to pinpoint exactly what position White will end up playing, but we do know he has the skill set to be a very good player in the future.
Grant Fortune, 2022 CF (Texas Inferno) - Fortune was a big time hustler and always did the dirty work that you really don't see many players his age even attempt to do. There were plenty of times on the weekend when he was diving on the floor for loose balls, jumping out of bounds to try to save a turnover, and even getting his hands on the ball when to cause jump ball's and turnovers. Fortune didn't do all that much in the scoring department, but still found a way to impact the game with his hustle, rebounding, and smart decision making.
JaCory Chatman, 2022 PG (Team Kemistry) - Chatman was a playmaking machine all weekend as he scored baskets from all three levels and created plenty of oppurtunities for his teammates. His transition vision and ball-handling also made strong impressions. Overall, Chatman has a very good feel for the game as a rising seventh grade lead guard. Plenty of potential within this young prospect.
