Powder Springs, GA (Future150) -- Future150 Main Event Atlanta 14U division may have been the most loaded of any of the divisions, and there was no shortage of prospects who made waves throughout the weekend. The champions of the event deserve a special shoutout, including the Atlanta Celtics (Gold Division), Elite Playmakers (Silver Division) & Club 51 (Bronze Division). Check out our list of standouts from the division below.
Cam McDowell, 2021 SF, Atlanta Celtics (GA) – McDowell came into the weekend with high expectations after Future150 saw what he was capable of during 8th Grade Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina this past summer. Since then, he has grown an inch or two and has continued to develop his wing skills. He is a ridiculous athlete with good size, length, and rebounding abilities. He is just now scratching the surface of how good he can be on offense, and looks to be a future potential high-major target.
Tommy Sweat, 2021 SG, Knoxville Free Agents (TN): One of the best shooters in the tournament, the 6'2" guard had an excellent weekend. He showed that he can play both perimeter positions and can get shots off with ease. Headed to Karns High School (TN) next year, he should have a very good high school career in the state of Tennessee.
Zavier Carter, 2021 Post, Atlanta Celtics (GA): Already standing 6'5", he showed flashes of his upside throughout the tournament. His post moves are a work in progress, but he has good footwork on the block, can finish around the rim & has explosive athleticism. As he continues to refine his post game and grow, he'll be one of the most sought-after posts in the state of Georgia.
David Dixon, 2021 PF, TNBC Elite (TN): The 6'6" forward got better as the tournament went on, leading his team to the tournament championship game, where they ultimately lost to the Atlanta Celtics. Not only were we impressed by TNBC Elite as a whole, but we love the upside ability of the post prospect, who's long, active & athletic in the interior.
Josh Battle, 2021 SG, Game Elite (GA): We didn't see a better penetrator in the 14U division than the 6-foot wing prospect, who has an excellent frame and quick first-step in his arsenal. Simply put, he got buckets at Main Event Atlanta, and is one of the most productive 8th graders in Georgia at this point.
Chris Lengyl, 2021 SG, Atlanta Celtics (GA): Be on the lookout for the 6'0" combo guard, who has one of the highest IQ's on the floor that we've seen in the 2021 class to date. He can play both guard positions effectively, showing a nice handle and an excellent stroke on his jump shot. The Rainbow City, Alabama prospect should make waves in his state going forward.
Chris Shackleford, 2021 SF, SEC Elite (AL): The ferocity in which the 6'1" forward attacked the glass in Atlanta was unmatched. He has an endless motor and used it to his advantage, scoring around the rim on countless second-chance opportunities. He also showed that he's a very good slasher as well. It was an excellent weekend for him at Main Event Atlanta.
Chase Cormier, 2022 G, Atlanta Celtics (GA): The 5'10" combo guard plays his role on a loaded team, and it's good on-the-job training for the 7th grader. He's a talented scorer with excellent range on his jump shot. Playing up an age group on one of the most talented teams in the country should do wonders for his development going forward.
Dorian Collier, 2021 SG, SEC Elite (AL): The muscular 6'0" wing impressed us with his scoring ability in Atlanta. He got to the rim at will, and showed that he's capable of being a lockdown defender as well. As he continues to grow and work on his ball skills, he definitely has the tools to be a standout high school player.
Cam Shelton, 2021 PG, God’s Property (GA) – The God’s Property program had a good weekend at the Main Event Atlanta Tournament and introduced plenty of players that the Future150 staff were quite impressed with. One of them being Shelton, who showcased his mature floor general skills as an 8th grader, and his various ways he can finish around the rim. He has a quick first step and keeps the defense guessing with his solid jumper from outside as well.
Jalen Macon, 2021 SF, Tennessee Flyers (TN) – Macon competes hard on both ends of the floor and was not scared to take the big shot for his team in a clutch situation. On defense he guarded multiple positions well and gathered plenty of steals and blocks using his length against smaller guards and wings. At 6’1”, Macon has a good shot to be a prominent force on the wing if he continues to grow and gain more upper-body strength.
Travis Burris, 2021 PG, Atlanta Celtics (GA) - One of the best point guards in the entire tournament regardless of age division, Burris lived up to the hype after a very strong showing at 8th grade nationals in Greensboro this past summer. His slashing, finishing, and passing skills are way better than most true PG's his age, and he is a good leader on and off the court. Keep an eye on Burris as he should emerge as one of the best guard prospects in Georgia heading forward.
Omarion Smith, 2021 PF, Elite Playmakers (GA) - A high-motor big man who rebounds at a high rate, he is a fluid athlete that may ultimately end up being best used on the wing as time progresses. But for now, he is a solid finisher at the rim who runs the floor very well and had an impact defensively as well.
Zikora Okwuosa, 2021 PF, Georgia Achievers Academy (GA) - A big man who rebounds at a high rate, Okwuosa was able to use his strength to finish at the rim on Saturday. What was equally promising was his ability to step out and hit shots from the high-post and even a couple of three-pointers as well.
Rion White, 2021 PF, Atlanta Top Flight Elite (GA) - At 6-foot-4, White is a big and powerful forward with good hands and finishing ability. He punished his opposition on the low block, showing the ability to score with either hand. He runs the floor very well and it's clear that he's still growing. As effective as he was this past weekend, it is what he could become down the road that has our staff excited.
Jayden Clark, 2021 SG, H-Town All-Stars (GA) - A talented scorer who is still growing into his body, Clark hit a number of big shots on Saturday and was his team's most dependable scorer. At 6-foot, he has a very good looking shot and got to the rim on occasion as well. It is going to be interesting to see how much more he grows and what position he ultimately ends up playing.
Jamisen Winters, 2021 SG, DC Warriors (GA) - Winters is a skilled scoring guard who can get his own shot off-the-dribble and get to the rim. He had an impressive performance on Friday night where he used a really dependable hesitation move to pass his defender. He will need to continue to refine his decision making but could be a nice point guard prospect with continued development.
Justin Johnson, 2021 G/F, Atlanta Celtics (GA) - Built like a linebacker, Johnson has an extremely strong frame that he uses to bully smaller guards/wings down low. He has improved vastly on his jump shot and is a very good passer for a wing. He was deadly from mid-range and all weekend made some very smooth assists in the halfcourt. If Johnson grows a few more inches and converts to the two spot, he has a chance to be special.
Miles Kelly, 2021 CG, Hoop City Thunder (GA) – Kelly was one of the most prolific scorers in the 14U division, draining shots from way beyond the arc on a consistent basis as well as slashing into the lane and getting to the line. Not only does he score the ball well but he also has good court vision in transition where he was good at finding open teammates all weekend. Kelly enjoyed a nice coming out party in Atlanta and should be watched closely from here on out.
Cedric Williams Jr., 2021 PG, CBG (GA) – Williams Jr. was a little undersized in a stacked 14U division featuring some of the best guards in the Southeast. However, he didn’t seem to let this affect his game too much as he proved to be a difficult defensive assignment with his speed and elite ball-handling abilities. He was controlling the tempo for his team and rarely made a bad choice or had bad shot selection on offense.
Kenneth Doucet, 2021 CG, Elite Playmakers AJ (GA) - Doucet was an extremely aggresive playmaker all throughout the weekend as he continously steamrolled his way into the lane while drawing contact and finishing around the rim. At 5'11", it would be nice to see him grow a little more before he starts playing in high school, but Doucet is definitely a mature player for his age and has a good future ahead of himself.
Theus Johnson, 2021 PG, DC Warriors (GA) - It was hard to pinpoint a certain glaring weakness in Johnson's game throughout the weekend. He has good size, strength, and showed he was capable of making shots from about anywhere on the floor. He rebounded well for a guard and made some really good passes in the halfcourt. Once Johnson's defense catches up with his offense, he will be a really special player.
Jalen Lewis, 2021 SF, Savannah Blue Chips (GA) - Lewis was one of the best rebounders and finishers in transition in his division. He ran the floor extremely well and always put himself in good position for easy buckets on offense. He also had no problem getting to the rim as he seemed very comfortable putting the ball on the floor from the perimeter and slashing the lane.
KJ Ingram, 2021 PF, Atlanta Select Scholars (GA) - Ingram had some dominant performances during the weekend, one in particular was against a long, athletic Tennessee Flyers team in which he scored 19 points. He showcased good footwork down low, fundamental rebounding, and was very agile for a four-man. Ingram definitely has some potential and he should be watched closely among middle school prospects in the Atlanta area.
Javon Yearby, 2021 PF, Atlanta Top Flight (GA) - A little undersized at the PF position in this loaded age division, Yearby held his ground and had some really good performances. He scored 15 points in a tough loss on Saturday night against TNBC Elite in the first game of bracket play. This is a big time game considering how long and dominant the frontcourt of TNBC Elite was throughout the weekend. There is definitely some upside and potential here with Yearby, assuming he continues to grow.
Quentin Barnes, 2021 C, Club 51 (TN) - Barnes was a force to be reckoned with in the paint with his great size (6'3") and length at his age. He came up big for his squad in the Bronze Division Championship game against the DC Warriors, scoring 17 points and collecting plenty of rebounds on both ends. Barnes is another prospect who used this weekend as his coming out party and it will be fun to see how he progresses and grows over the next few years.
Robert Noord, 2021 PG, Atlanta Select Scholars (GA) - Noord is a talle guard who loves to score the ball, proving this past weekend that he can score it in different ways. He showed his power and explosiveness by using his strong frame and quick first step to get past defenders and finishing at the rim. In the open floor, he showed that he can handle the ball very well and use his dribble to get his shot off.
Savion Jones, 2021 PG, AUSA Rampage (AL) - Jones is very quick guard who can do it all, but this past weekend one of the most noticeable parts of his game was his ability to shoot the ball. He showed that not only can he shoot off the catch, but he can also shoot the ball off the dribble. He was a tough player to guard, because of his ability to play off the ball so wel. Many times defenses had a hard time locating him when on the floor.
