Future150 Houston Main Event: 12U Top Performers

The 12U division of the Future150 Main Event Houston was dominated by two teams, but won by another.  Team Kemistry dominated withTotal Package on their heels.

On Sunday afternoon, Elevation Skill Sports captured the championship. 

These teams battled all weekend against other talented teams which also included: RL9, Spring City Ballers, Texas Bulldogs, and AABC Superstars. 

Though they were the youngest division that competed, they played as hard as any age group as a whole.  Here are a few players that stood out:

Adrian Woodson, 2021 SF, Elevation Skill Sports:   Adrian has a high motor and toughness that allows him to outwork most kids his age.  He was most effective when slashing to the basket, but showed that he is capable of knocking down shots.  Adrian does the things that may not show up in the stat sheet, but lead to wins and helped lead his team to win the championship.

Reuben "Deuce" Fatheree, 2021 PF, Total Package:  The big bodied 6-foot-5 gentle giant played as well as any kid at the tournament.  He used his size to impose his will on smaller opponents with his back to the basket moves and soft touch.  When teams pressed he was the press break by throwing the ball up to Deuce.  Then he started the break with an outlet pass.  Though he’s not athletic right now he has good timing and hand and eye coordination that allows him to be a tremendous rebounder and shot blocker.

Alex May, 2021 SG, Total Package:  Alex used his athleticism and craftiness around the basket to put pressure on teams all weekend.  Kid has a motor and plays hard on both ends of the floor. May has strong shoulders. It is tough to dispossess May. He is working to incorporate more extravagant moves. Dribbling fakes are expanding. He has very quick feet.

Jacolbi Harris, 2021 PG, Team Kemistry:  Super shifty point guard with high basketball IQ.  Jacolbi was a one man press break, and every time he broke the press it led to an assist or an easy layup for his teammates.  He played with a lot of emotion and a will to win.  Jacolbi is also a really good on-ball defender he gave opposing point guards trouble bringing the ball up.

Christian Jackson, 2021 SF, Team Kemistry:  Christian is an athletic wing who can do it all.  He showed a nice mid-range game that he used to score when a big didn’t want to come out on him.  When they did come out he would blow right by them for a layup and one.  Christian was a tough match up for most teams because of he could rebound the ball and start the break himself.

Patrick Neal, 2021 SF, RL9 Elite: Neal is skilled wing man who can do it all on both ends of the floor.  He is a great rebounder on the defensive end and loves to start the fast break.  The one thing that set him apart was his ability to finish through contact.  As he gets stronger and grows more, look for him to become a force on the offensive end.

Zaire Hayes, 2021 PG, Team Kemistry:  What Jacolbi didn’t do Zaire did.  Zaire has more of a scoring mentality and the ability to knock down the three.  He was very consistent for the most dominant team in the 12U division.

Tristin Lopez, 2020 PG, Texas Bulldogs: The combo guard, Lopez easily gets to the basket.  He currently stands 5'6".  In addition to his improving attacking skills, Lopez works the feet on defense.  He commits at both ends.

Cameron Clark, 2020 SG, Texas Bulldogs: Clark scored nine points against a very physical Total Package 12u squad.  Like many of his Bulldog teammates, Clark hails from San Angelo, Texas.

Demari Williams, 2021 PG, AABC Super Stars: Williams has good balance. The guard changes direction well. He does need to fine tune his handle. All of the Super Stars ventured from Richmond, Texas to the Future150 Houston Main Event.
