Houston, TX (Future150) -- Houston has become quite the city for basketball over the past few years. While it has some of the best talent in the country, it also plays host to some relatively unknown players that add to the city’s depth. Robert Eledu (Class of 2013, Cypress Ridge High School/Northside Rockets) is one of many players that have benefited from Future150’s past camps. As of now, the junior is receiving interest from Seton Hill, Tarleton State, California State- Chico, Purdue University-North Central, and Arkansas Tech University.

“Arkansas Tech is recruiting me the hardest right now, but I like California. It is my dream to play in California,” Eledu began. “I’m looking for a college that has a fast pace and a good education for the future.”

As a combo guard, Eledu has been responsible for getting his teammates involved. He has done that, but he also has shown the ability to score the basketball. This past season, the 6-foot-2 inch guard averaged 15 points, five rebounds, and four steals. He also places high comparisons on his shoulders.

“I compare myself to Austin Rivers. I like to shoot the ball, and I use my quickness to create for my teammates,” he explained.

Because of his breakout junior season, Eledu is now known as one of the best shooters in the state of Texas. As many would expect, his shooting, as well as his quickness and vision, are the biggest assets to his game.

However, Eledu is quick to diagnose his weaknesses, too.

“I would say my weaknesses are my off-hand dribbling and finishing over bigger defenders. I have to work on those things.”

With AAU season comes the opportunity to improve, and that is exactly what Eledu will hope to do.

“I want to work on my ball-handling and passing. And my shooting can always get better,” Eledu said.

In the future, the combo guard plans to visit Arkansas Tech, Tarleton, and West Texas. Until then, he will continue to be a kid and enjoy the great music, just like his friends.

“I listen to Tyga, Chris Brown, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar as far as rappers. Some songs I like are “Our Careless World,” “Till I Die,” and “P&P.”
