Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- Future150 kicked off the annual Main Event Tournament in Birmingham this past weekend and saw over 125 teams from 8 different states competing. With teams breaking off into the gold, silver, and bronze brackets after pool play, there was quality competition all over the division.
The Jackson Lakers took home the gold championship in a thriller vs Memphis Prep, winning 64-62.
In the silver division, it was BFG Elite that took home the crown to a tune of a 59-47 win over Nashville Wildboys.
Finally, in the bronze division 6th Man Warriors won with a commanding victory, 56 to 39.
A number of players had big time weekends, read on to see who boosted their stock this weekend:
Devan Cambridge, 2019 SF, BFG Elite: One of the best prospects in any age group this weekend, Cambridge simply did it all. He has fantastic size for the perimeter and is an explosive athlete. Throw in a high motor and a fantastic looking jumper, and it's not a stretch to say he could play high-major basketball.
Jaylen Forbes, 2019 SF, Jackson Lakers Elite: Forbes came through Future150's Birmingham Underclassmen back in late February and showed off his skills. Forbes continued to showcase his scoring abilities and athleticism throughout the weekend. He scored 24 points in the gold division championship game and seems to have a very bright future if he continues to grow and get stronger.
Josh McGhee, 2019 SF, AC Kings: An athletic slasher, McGhee put up points in bunches over the weekend. He can get to the rim and finish through contact, as he did on multiple occasions. It would benefit him to continue to develop his jump shot.
Andrew Anderson, 2019 CG, Memphis Magic: Anderson is a high scoring combo guard who can put points up on multiple levels. He can get to the rim or knock down the perimeter jumper. Anderson also looked very much like a coach's son, as he made high IQ plays throughout the weekend.
Jaylen Daniels, 2019 SG, Jaguar Elite: A talented scorer, Daniels was at his best when he was going to the rim. He is a decent ball-handler and has a nose for the bucket. In order for him to take the next step he must improve as a shooter.
Jakaymine Somier, 2019 PF, 6th Man Warriors: Somier is an undersized four man who makes up for his lack of height with energy and his athleticism. He did a good job of being a factor on the glass, and scored around the rim all weekend.
Bakari Taylor, 2019 SG, Alabama Bravehearts: Taylor is a physical wing prospect who excelled at getting to the rim. He used he strength to finish through contact and showed off a decent looking jumper as well.
Tramichael Moton, 2019 CG, Xpress Music: Moton is not only a speedy guard who can finish around the rim, but someone who can set the table and create for his teammates. His speed, combined with great court vision, make him a very dangerous player on the offensive end.
Derrick Thompson, 2019 SG, Nashville Wildboys: Thompson is an athletic and aggressive wing prospect who can handle the ball in transition. He also has a decent mid-range jumper that he mixed up with his drives to make his defenders' lives miserable.
Elijah Malone, 2019 C, Monroe Select Elite: Malone is a force inside the paint. He scored with either hand around the rim, as well as knocked down the short corner jumper. He played with a chip on his shoulder and was one of the better offensive big men in the 15U division.
Malachi Brown, 2019 SF, GA Heat: Brown showed great slashing ability, as well as the ability to shoot the ball. He is an ok, but not great ball-handler who was able to create his shot at times throughout the weekend. Keep an eye out for him moving forward.
Jermaine Brown, 2019 PG , Mobile Hurricanes: Brown played hard on both ends of the floor and helped his team this past weekend in many ways. His ability to push the ball and find players in transition and in the half court make him a dangerous floor general who can also score the ball when needed as well.
Parker Long, 2019 PG, AL Shockers: Long is a very skilled guard that is also a very solid defender. This past weekend he displayed his ability to shoot the ball from behind the arc and mid-range consistently. He is a smooth tguard that doesnt get rattled by pressure and knows how to use space to his advantage.
Dylan Gibson, 2019 SG, 6th Man Warriors: Gibson had a couple of high scoring games this past weekend thanks to his ability to move without the ball. He showed that he can also step onto the ball as well and play as a distributor at times. That being said, he trends as a shooting guard moving forward.
Malik Smith, 2019 PG, LODA: Smith is a well built point guard that plays with alot of energy. He showed that he can make shots all over the floor by knocking down mid-range shots as well shooting the ball from behind the arc consistently. He also showed that he was more than capable of running the offense and did a good job of getting his teammates involved.
Isaiah Johnson, 2019 PG, Chattanooga Elite: Johnson is a smooth but aggressive guard that gets it done on both ends of the floor. He loves to open the floor up and take adavantage of ball screens. His high basketball IQ allows him to read the defense and take what they are giving him.
Leo Lewis, 2019 SG, Alabama Flames: Lewis is a complete guard that scores the ball in many ways. He handles the ball well in the open floor and shoots it well also. This past weekend he had a couple high scoring games where you could see his abilities to score the ball the ball in the half court and the open floor, as he was nearly impossible to guard.
Jasmin Graham, 2019 PF, Gadsden Stars: Graham is a strong and physical stretch four man who looked equally comfortable taking his man away from the basket as he did scoring around the rim. At 6-foot-5, it will be interesting to see if he stays a power forward or ultimately moves out onto the perimeter.
Bobo Hodges, 2019 SG, Tennessee Legends: Hodges followed in his older brothers footsteps as he was one of the most impressive players in the 15U division. He scored the ball in a number of different ways and looks like he too may have high-major suitors sooner rather than later.
Cole McGrath, 2019 SG, Mississippi Spartans: McGrath is a knock down shooter who uses screens very well and finds a way to get open. He has a high basketball IQ and understands the amount of time and space he needs in order to get his shot off. His school is coming off a state championship, and McGrath is hoping to help his team repeat next season.
