Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- The Birmingham Main Event is annually one of the best tournaments of the Spring in the southeast, and this year's edition was no different. The 17U division was closely contended, as a number of talented prospects had great weekends.

The Tennessee Legends won the gold division 73-64 behind the play of Bo Hodges. The junior combo-guard has taken his game to a whole new level and did a bit of everything for his team this weekend. With good size and athleticism, expect his recruitment to take off.  He takes home the tournament MVP.

In the silver divison, it was AR DevilNation that cruised over The Unit to the tune of a 63-50. Demarious Houston was a major factor for DevilNation all weekend long and he could potentially play division one basketball if he continues to improve.

Markel Perry-Washington helped to lead his Carver Elite team to a 66-60 win over the Birmingham Hawks in the bronze bracket. A speedy lead guard who is a great defender, his energy was infectious as his team got the win.

Plenty of other players put themselves on the radar, as a number of them turned in big time performances:

Cobi Platt, 2017 SG, Arkansas Dream Team: Platt knocked down jumpers from all over the floor this past weekend, going for 20 points on multiple occasions. He is very talented offensively, but it would benefit him to improve defensively.

Tyler Millin, 2018 SF, Alabama Celtics Elite:  Millin is super long, rangy and a great athlete.  At 6-foot-6 inches, he uses his length to his advantage on both the offensive and defensive ends.  His mid range jumper and slashing ability are his strengths to date.  A developing jumper has shown signs of improvement over the last month. His sky high confidence is allowing him to play more freely and compete.

Desmond Trotter, 2018 SG, Alabama Celtics Elite: is a do it all type guard who can guard multiple positions on the floor.  His on ball defense is exceptional and always excepts the challenge of guarding the best player on the other team. He makes a living on attacking the rim and knocking down the mid range jumper. Competitor would be a word that describes him to a tee.

Cameron McGilvery, 2017 CG, 6th Man Warriors: McGilvery did a good job of getting to the rim and finishing above it. He also has a decent looking jumper that he knocked down fairly consistently. Division two schools would be smart to jump on him now.

Christian Hill, 2017 SG, Birmingham Hawks-Green: Hill is a very good shooter. Hill is an active rebounder as well. Christian has the ability to finish in traffic. His energy is infectious and he nevers gives up on a play.  Coaches love a player that competes on every play and lead by example, he did that this weekend.

Johnny Tubbs, 2016 PG, Tuscaloosa Rams: Tubbs is a shifty point guard who can handle the ball and either get to the rim and score or can create for his teammates. He can shoot the ball pretty decently from deep, as well.

Nathan Givhan, 2017 CF, Alabama Force: He is a strong and talented combo forward who does a good job on the defensive end and has improved offensively as well. He will need to improve as a wing player, but the future is bright for Givhan.

Avion Graham, 2017 PG, Memphis Saints: Graham is a pure shooter who can knock down the open shot or with defenders in his face. He moves well without the ball and makes correct passes as well. His advanced basketball IQ also allowed him to get open when he was playing off the ball.

Josh Strozier, 2017 SG, Alabama Celtics: Strozier is a feakish athlete who knows how to finish with the best on the fast break. His high flying dunks were some of the best in the tournament.  At 6-foot-5 inches and a long wing span, he is a great rebounder on both ends of the floor.  His ability to start the break after a rebound is sone of his best attributes that invaluable to his team.  High energy would be a good way to describe his game.

Deven Neal, 2017 CF, Be Elite: Neal projects as a stretch-four thanks to his ability to knock down a number of threes. At 6-foot-7, he is stuck firmly between positions, as he needs to improve his ball-handling to play on the perimeter all the time.

Kortez Currington, 2016 CG, Birmingham Hawks-Gray:  A talented shooter, Currington put points up in bunches and knocked down a number of shots throughout the weekend. He is undersized, but makes up for it with his speed and ability to stretch the floor.

Xavier Humphrey, 2017 SG, Birmingham Hawks-Blue: Humphrey is a talented scoring guard who uses his quickness and ball-handling to get to the rim and finish. He also has a decent mid-range jumper that he used very well throughout the weekend. It would benefit him to expand his range.

Ratreavius Sanders, 2018 CF, TNA Heat: Sanders knocked down a number of three pointers over the weekend and looked comfortable from range. At 6-foot-4, he played predominantly the power forward spot, as he used his athleticism to be a factor on the glass. A decent athlete, it will be interesting to see how much further he refines his skills and develops his game.

Adonis Bailey, 2016 CF, North Alabama Heat: Bailey is an intriguing forward thanks to his face-up ability. It is clear that he has really just begun to expand his game to the perimeter and will likely play the three at the next level. For that reason, he could potentially play division one down the line, but will need a post-grad year and/or JuCo in order to develop enought to get there.

Tarrance Davis, 2017 SG, Jaguar Elite: Davis knocked down a number of jumpers as well as got to the rim. He can put points up on multple levels and is one to keep an eye on moving forward.

Javious Tarplin, 2017 PG, The Unit: Tarplin is a heady point guard who knows how to score the ball as well as set up his teammates for easy looks. As of right now, he looks to be a nice division two point guard.
