Atlanta, GA (Future150) -- The Future150 camp series continued on this past weekend into Atlanta, Georgia. Players from ten different states traveled to prove they have what it takes to be next. Below are the all-star selections from the weekend.
Elijah Andrews, 2019 SG, Lithonia, Georgia: The rising sophomore Andrews had a very good weekend scoring the basketball. His handles and quick first step allow him to get into the lane on command and get the defense into foul trouble. At 6'1 he rebounded well for a guard, and got after it on defense. Definitely some D1 potential from this Lithonia native.
Kobe Isaac, 2019 CG, Atlanta, Georgia: Isaac impressed during four on four play as he was creating his own shots and knocking them down with ease. He has a good basketball IQ and knows how to set up his teammates for easy buckets in transition. He is definitely one to keep an eye on in the Atlanta area as he heads into his sophomore year.
Tate Ryder, 2019 CG, Hattiesburg, Mississippi: This Mississippi product played very consistently all weekend. He was productive on both ends of the floor playing tough nosed defense and finding easy scoring oppurtunities for himself and his teammates on the opposite end. Once Ryder adds a little more strength and can finish through the defense on a more consistent basis, he could become a true offensive threat.
Jordan Barnes, 2018 PG, Marietta, Georgia: Certainly one of the most impressive floor generals at camp, standing just under six foot, Barnes was a killer in the open floor. He did a good job of keeping the defense on their toes, and being vocal on both ends. He showed that he's capable of knocking down the three point shot from deep range, and can finish through contact as well.
Ian Lopez, 2017 SG, Oakland, Florida: One of the best pure scorers in the camp, Lopez was firing on all cylinders during four on four play. He forces the defense to defend him well beyond the three point line because of his shooting capabilities. With good size at 6'3, Lopez could develop into a late blooming D2/fringe D1 prospect over the course of his senior year at West Orange high school in Oakland, Florida.
Jaquarius Williams, 2018 PG, Milbrook, Alabama: Williams impressed with his slashing abilities and quick decision making skills. He was one of the best finishers around the rim as he can score with either hand, and has no problem with a little bit of contact. Definitely the type of player you want on your team in a tight game situation.
Zion Whaley, 2018 CG, Marietta, Georgia: One of the most physically imposing guards at the camp, Whaley always takes it to the rim with force. Not only did he rattle the rims plenty of times over the weekend, he also drained plenty of jumpers from all over the floor. His skill set paired with his solid size and athleticism has him looking like a potential D1 prospect. Heading forward he needs to learn to play with his motor on the entire game instead of just playing hard for a quarter or two.
Nathan Reid, 2018 SF, Chamblee, Georgia: If there was an award for the best teammate handed out at camp, Reid would of almost unanimously won this accolade. He was always vocal and helping lead his team when things would go haywire during 5 on 5 play. He was all over the offensive glass and lived on second chance buckets. On defense he used his lengthy wingspan to disrupt the ball handler and snatch passes out of the lanes. Plenty to like from the Chamblee, Georgia product.
Rico Williams, 2019 CF, Kinston, North Carolina: Probably the prospect with the most potential from camp, Williams is a physically imposing combo forward at 6'7 that can sky above the rim. He killed opposing teams on the glass during 5 on 5 play and showed the ability to put the ball on the floor from the perimeter and take it all the way to the rim. Once he develops a consistent jumpshot and learns to be more vocal, the sky is the limit for the Kinston, North Carolina prospect.
Akil Covington, 2019 SG, Loganville, Georgia: Covington was impressive with his abilities to finish over the top of the defense, standing at just 5'10. His quick first step allows him to get to rim on command, and he has an array of moves that he can pull of once he gets in the lane. Hopefully he can grow a few more inches and continue to get stronger, and he definitely has a good shot at extending his basketball playing career beyond high school.
Kalon Williams, 2017 CF, Midfield, Alabama: At 6'3 Williams is a little undersized for the forward position, but he still plays his rear end off and will go up against the opposing frontcourt no matter how much bigger they may be. What he impressed us most with was his high energy on both ends of the floor and his abilities to step out and hit three point shot. You don't have to worry about getting less than 110% from Williams when he is on the floor.
Jordin Webb, 2017 SG, Kingsport, Tennessee: Everyone likes a shooter with size, which is just what Webb brings to the table. He is capable of hitting jumpers from all over the floor whether they're off the catch or off the dribble. He crashed the glass and ran the floor well, setting himself up for some wide open jumpers in transition. Another player from camp that has some late blooming potential as a D2/NAIA prospect.
Aaron Ridley, 2017 SG, Macon, Georgia: Since we last saw Ridley, he has grown a few more inches and gotten a bit stronger. His athleticism and rebounding on both ends were the main things that stuck out during the weekend. He has improved at finishing through contact at the rim, as well as being more vocal on both ends of the floor.
Kaelon Hinton, 2018 SG, McDonough, Georgia: Hinton had no problems putting the ball in the basket regardless of who was guarding him throughout the weekend. He can get hot in a hurry and score in bunches. With decent size for a two guard at 6'3, Hinton is very capable of playing basketball beyond high school. Getting in the weight room, and taking more pride on defense would help him get to that level a lot easier.
Chase Sands, 2018 SG, Peachtree City, Georgia: Sands was very solid on both ends of the floor throughout the weekend. At 6'5, he was very versatile on the defensive end being able to lock up smaller guards on the perimeter, and could oppose other players in the frontcourt despite giving up a few inches. On offense he showcased his smooth jumper and crashed the offensive glass harder than most guys his size or bigger.
DeJuan Hyde, 2017 PG, McDonough, Georgia: One of the funnest players to watch out of the entire camp, Hyde showed off his handles and ridiculous court vision. His three point shot was almost automatic during 5 on 5 play if he was given any space at all. He loves to slash the lane and dish to open teammates under the basket or standing out on the perimeter. Hyde defined the identity of a floor general throughout the weekend.
Xavier Hutchinson, 2018 CG, St. Augustine, Florida: Hutchinson showed that he was capable of scoring from all three levels and had the looks of a good on court leader with his good basketball IQ. On offense he plays with good confidence and was never scared to take the shot when his team needed a bucket. As a rising junior, and with good size for a guard at 6'3, he could turn out to be a nice D2/fringe D1 prospect when it's all said and done.
Tyler Thornton, 2017 PF, Atlanta, Georgia: Thornton's high motor and strong finishes at the rim were on display like usual. His mid-range game has improved over the past year and he is a threat to knock down the jump shot out to around 12-15 feet. A frequent camper, Thornton continues to look like a solid low-major/mid-major four man at the next level.
Dustin Ladson, 2018 SG, Marietta, Georgia: A very quiet player on and off the court, Ladson let his game speak for himself throughout the weekend. His athleticism and three point jumper were very impressive for a guard at his size. Usually guards built like Ladson thrive off of bullying smaller defenders in the post and getting buckets off of offensive boards. He had his fair share of one handed jams and made defenders pay if they laid off him on the perimeter.
Blayton Williams, 2018 PG, Wynne, Arkansas: Maybe the PG with the highest ceiling in the camp, Williams has good size at 6 foot 2 inches and 180 pounds. He was capable of scoring from all over the floor, but was at his best when getting into the lane and dishing to teammates or finishing at the rim. The Arkansas native has D1 potential but needs to continue to work on his strength, and his consistency on his jump shot.
Bradley Cole, 2017 SF, White House, Tennessee: Since the last time we saw Cole, he has really worked on his strength and conditioning, along with his consistency on his three point jump shot. He was very impressive with how vocal he was on both ends of the floor and his high energy on the defensive end. As a rising senior Cole has the looks of a good D2/NAIA prospect.
Joshua Dupree, 2019 PG, Fayetteville, Georgia: One of the best rebounding guards at the camp, Dupree has some nice bounce in his step and loves to get to the rim on offense. During 5 on 5 play he was setting up his teammates for some easy buckets in the halfcourt and transition. Just a rising sophomore, the 6'2" Fayetteville, Georgia product looks to have a bright future ahead of himself.
Donald Jackson III, 2018 SG, Fort Mitchell, Alabama: Jackson caught fire multiple times during 5 on 5 play throughout the weekend draining multiple three pointers on back to back possesions. He crashed the glass on both ends and got to the line often. Heading forward he needs to work on his slashing abilities, and his vocal/intensity on the defensive end.
Terrell Sanders, 2019 SG, McDonough, Georgia: The 6'5" rising sophomore made a lot of noise on the second day of camp when he led his squad to the 4 on 4 championship. Sanders is a wiry wing that is very energetic on both ends of the floor. He is at his best when getting to the rim but the showed the ability to knock down shots from deep. Playing with Green Forest Christian and the Atlanta Celtics, he will have plenty of oppurtunities to showcase his talents in front of D1 coaches heading forward.
