Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- With the high school season starting all across the country, now seems as good of a time as any to update the 2017 rankings. The junior class appears to be very talented at the top, with a lot of depth as well. While it will be interesting to see if it matches up with the loaded 2016 class, one things is for sure; there is plenty of talent to be had.

Future150 Alum Wendell Carter remains atop the rankings, but a couple of players are closing the gap. Big man DeAndre Ayton comes in at #2, and Michael Porter Jr. at #3 while Trevon Duval  (#5) continues to climb the rankings following a huge summer.  Three more players jump into the top ten after big AAU seasons as well. Billy Preston (#6), Mohammed Bamba (#7) and Gary Trent (#8) all proved themselves at the highest level while still showing there is a lot of room for growth in their games. Finally, the top ten is rounded out with another Future150 Alum in Findlay Prep (NV) forward P.J. Washington

A number of players made significant jumps, although a pair of Future150 Alums may have made the most significant strides. John Petty (#14) headlines what may just be the best collection of talent the state of Alabama has seen in possibly ever. Meanwhile, Trae Young (#15) turned heads on the AAU circuit all year long and has already started off the High school season strong as well. The MVP of Future150’s Inaugural “ELITE 24” camp, Young has proven to be one of the best guards in the country regardless of class. All in all, 31 Future150 alums cracked into the top 150 this time around.

There is still plenty of time for movement in the rankings, as this is just the start of the junior season for a majority of these players. Expect plenty of movement in our next update in a couple of months.
