Kingston, NY (Future150) -- Arguably one of the biggest risers this AAU season, Anthony Gaines saw his recruitment hit a whole new level over the past few months.
While the swingman enjoyed the increase in attention, he decided to calm things down a bit by trimming his list and focusing on just six schools going forward.
George Washington, Michigan, Dayton, Butler, Cincinnati and Northwestern all made the cut, and will battle it out for Gaines' services.
At 6-foot-5, the small forward has greatly improved his perimeter game over the past year, without sacrificing any of his defense or rebounding ability. Gaines has the ability to be a lockdown perimeter defender, which is arguably his best skill. While he needs to improve as a ball-handler, the ceiling is certainly high for Gaines.
Of his remaining schools, no one has recruited him longer or more consistently than George Washington. The Colonials offered before anyone else remaining and assistant coach Carmen Marciello was at seemingly every game this spring and summer.
Michigan has had success with players like Gaines before, and Wolverine fans would love what he brings to the table.
Gaines was also able to visit Dayton, Butler and Cincinnati in June. All three schools made a decent pitch, although the Bearcat visit was cut short due to time.
Northwestern is the newest school of the bunch, but offer very good academics; something that is important to Gaines.
No visits have been set yet, so it will be interesting to see where he takes his officials. Follow along with Future150 as we continue to track the alum's progress on the recruiting front and as a player.
