New York, NY (Future150) -- Friday night one of the more talented players from New York made his college decision public. Dayshon Smith has committed to the Dayton Flyers. Smith held offers from Illinois and Providence, as well as a bevy of mid-major programs. In the end Dayshon, or "Scoochie" as he is know by his friends and coaches, decided that Dayton was the fit for him.
The Flyers are getting an electric ball-handler and a point guard who can score just as well as he can distribute the ball. He uses his quickness and change of speeds to keep his defenders off balance and is nearly impossible to keep out of the lane.
While Scooch could have very well ended up at a BCS program, he decided that the opportunity to come in and make an impact right away was more important. He has the opportunity to be a star at Dayton under head coach Archie Miller.
Dayton also has a commit from Kyle Davis, another talented guard. Look for the Flyers to go after a big man with their lone remaining scholarship for 2013.
