Minneapolis, MN (Future150) -- The rise of Reid Travis over the past year has been fun to watch. From going to unranked and under appreciated. Travis has seen his stock soar. The do-it-all forward is a great rebounder, can score facing up or with his back to the basket, and is an ultimate competitor.
He also is a very smart player, not surprising given the fact that he was a big time QB prospect before giving up football to play basketball full-time. Playing with Howard Pulley on the EYBL circuit this season along Tyus Jones really helped Reid to showcase what he is capable of.
At Stanford, he is in position to play early and often. The Cardinal have four seniors in the frontcourt, including standouts Josh Huestis and Dwight Powell. Grant Verohoven and Roscoe Allen will be juniors and Schuyler Rimmer will be a sophomore, but it remains to be seen if any will break out.
Travis joins fellow highly-touted big man Michael Humphrey and guard Robert Cartwright as members of the 2014 class for the Cardinal. Johnny Dawkins knew that this would be a big year for him, and this class shows it. This group is arguably the best class he has pulled in since arriving in Palo Alto.
With two more scholarships left at his disposal, Dawkins will turn to recruiting Justice Winslow. While it would be nothing short of a shock to see Justice end up on campus next fall, the Cardinal shouldn't be counted out just yet. After all, they did land a stud in Reid Travis.
