Louisville, KY (Future150) -- Those three guards from Fern Creek High had a great summer.
Anthony Wales, Willie Hill, and Ahmad Price each participated for top Kentucky-based AAU programs. Last November Future150 introduced five guys from the area merging with The Travelers (NIKE). Three of them were these guards. Since then Hill left The Travelers 16u for Louisville Magic 15u, where he thrived.
Price Paying Off
With those sleepy eyes, Ahmad looks like he barely cares. But when he steps on the court the entire game changes. His defensive intensity is disruptive.
Price is blessed with great natural strength, so when he entirely invests in a workout routine he will be a powerful guard like Wayne Selden or O.J. Mayo in stature.
Wales of a Talent
Anthony Wales is the smallest of the trio. Too often shorter guards get overlooked. Wales will fight the same recruiting demons, but the frequency with which he wins proves his value.
Wales competed with Travelers 16u all summer. Playing with Wales allows Hill to be a combo guard for Fern Creek. With Hill and Wales sharing the backcourt the basketball is in great hands.
Quicker than most Wales can create nightmares for zone defenses. He collapses 2-3 zones easily.
Hill Climbing
After switching over to the Louisville Magic, Trey (Willie) Hill III average 10.0 ppg, 5.0 apg, 4.0 rpg, and 2.0 spg.
The team was guard-heavy and they won with defense. Hill still needs to get his motor up, but his ceiling is high because he is naturally athletic. He can handle and score in traffic. Hill's size doesn't hurt either.
All three guards have different skills they bring. Together they are both exciting and potent.
The region is not prepared for the damage they will do together in the coming years.
