New York, NY (Future150) -- On Wednesday morning, Sunrise Christian Academy (KS) power forward Luis Santos gave his commitment to head coach Orlando Antigua and the South Florida Bulls.
The 6-foot-8 post, who spent his junior season as a standout at St. Raymond's (NY) and followed with a successful AAU season with New Jersey based BBA Hoops, chose USF over the likes of Fordham, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's & Villanova.
Familiar ties helped seal the deal for the Bulls. Santos played for USF assistant coach Oliver Antigua in 2011 for the Dominican Republic in the 16U FIBA Americas and has developed an excellent relationship with both him and his brother and head coach Oliver Antigua.
It is the first recruit of the 2015 class for South Florida, and they are getting a power player on the block who is most successful as a rebounder and defender. He will bring added toughness to the Bulls, which they will sorely need in a tough American Athletic Conference.
