Houston, TX (Future150) -- AAU season is around the corner, and a sharp-shooting Future150 Alum could see his stock rise considerably in the coming months.
Bellaire (TX) combo-guard Maxwell Evans is one of the top shooters in the state and arguably the south west. At 6-foot-1, he is the definition of a tweener. That being said, Evans is a high level scorer who can put points up on all three levels. With a solidly built frame and good speed, he has the tools to become a very good defender down the road as well.
As it stands right now, a number of mid and low major programs are duking it out for his services. Lamar, SFA, Nothern Colorado, Weber State, UT-Arlington, Middle Tennessee State, Incarnate Word, Sam Houston, San Diego, Santa Clara, Pepperdine and New Mexico have already pulled the trigger.
Bigger programs are lurking though, as LSU, Virginia Tech, Boise State, Creighton, Illinois State, Oklahoma, Houston and TCU have been in contact with him this season as well.
Playing with the Houston Defenders on the Under Armour circuit this Spring, Evans should see an uptick in exposure. A majority of college coaches will likely be in New York City for the first live period, as UA and Nike will both host their leagues in the area that weekend.
"My goal is really improve my stock and show that I'm capable of being and all around guard," said Maxwell of the upcoming opportunity.
While his recruitment has really just begun, he already knows what he's looking for in a program.
"What's most important to me is my education, and then just finding a coaching staff who will really treat me like family," Maxwell said.
This spring could be a launching point for the sharp-shooter's recruitment, follow along with Future150 as we continue to track the alum.
