Amite, LA (Future150) -- Each year, Future150 is responsible for putting a handful of talented kids on the map. As the story goes, they show up to one of our camps as an unknown prospect, they shred the competition, leaving our staff scrambling through our camp roster, and by the end of the weekend, we've already alerted coaches and fans about the next rising star on the hardwood. Such is the case with 2020 point guard prospect La'Vell Scott.
The 6-foot combo guard blew up at our 2016 Elite24 All-American Camp in August, leaving the camp with Co-MVP honors after putting on one of the most impressive shooting displays we've seen in quite some time. Since then, he's continued his breakout season into the winter.
Playing at Oak Forest Academy (LA), he's putting up averages of 20 points, six assists and six rebounds per game this season.
"My team goal this season is to win a state championship, and individually, I'm trying to perfect my all-around game and become a better leader on and off the court," he told Future150.
As it stands right now, Southern & Southeastern Louisiana are already showing interest in the talented scorer.
The cousin of Cal State Fullerton point guard Lionheart Leslie, he counts him as the toughest player he's competed against in the past year.
"I feel like the strongest part of my game is being able to score the ball on all levels and being able to create for my teammates. Something I've been working on this whole year has been my defense, which is improving in tremendous fashion."
Stick with Future150 as we continue to update you on the progress of La'Vell as he heads into AAU season.
