New York, NY (Future150) -- Wednesday might have been the final day of the early signing period, but it certainly didn't go quietly. After cancelling a visit to Mississippi State, rumors swirled earlier this week that Dewan Huell would end his recruitment. Meanwhile Bruce Brown, a four-star guard out of Vermont Academy (VT), made it clear he would announce on the final day as well.
Brown was down to Indiana and Miami, and at 10 AM EST, he let it be known that he would be heading to play his college ball in Coral Gables. The combo-guards commitment was enough to get the fanbase excited, but the fun didn't stop there for Canes fans.
At approximately 1 PM EST, Huell, a Miami resident, decided to stay home for his colliegete experience. At 6-foot-10, with offensive skill, he makes up for Ivan Ucaeda's graduaton after this season. Now coach Larranaga has plenty to work with moving forward with his top-ten recruiting class.
Perhaps the biggest surprise came out of Arkansas. Five-star shooting guard Malik Monk has been considered a Kentucky lean for awhile now, but the timing of his commitment caught the recruiting world off guard. The Bentonville star pulled the trigger for the Wildcats with little to no notice or fanfare leading up to his decision. His commitment immediately puts the Wildcats back atop the 2016 class recruiting rankings.
There are only a few remaining big names left going into the Spring signing period. Be on the lookout as Future150 breaks down the best available players later this week.
