Fayetteville, NC (Future150) -- Over the past several years, the Duke Blue Devils have gone toe-to-toe with John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats when it comes to landing elite prospects. Coach Mike Krzyzewski wasted no time in starting to assemble a star-studded 2019 recruiting class with the commitment of 5-star wing Joey Baker on Sunday night.
The first commitment in the cycle for Duke, the 6'7" Trinity Christian (NC) wing is a perfect fit for their system. A highly skilled player who can knock down shots at a high level, he's much more than just a shooter.
He has also shown over the past few years the ability to create off-the-dribble and knock down contested shots over defenses. He's also quick and agile enough to get to the rim at a high rate, while being athletic enough to finish at the cup with relative ease.
He chose Duke over scholarship offers from schools such as Florida, Kansas, Louisville, NC State, Texas, etc., along with heavy interest from North Carolina.
