New Haven, CT (Future150) -- Going into the National Prep Showcase, there were a few questions surrounding a suddenly shorthanded Brewster Academy squad  without the likes of star forward Chris McCullough and guard Jarred Terrell

If Brewster was going to roll through the weekend they would need a couple of their bench guys to step up. It was 2015 SG Donovan Mitchell that answered the call.

After spending last season with the Canterbury School (CT) and on the AAU circuit with The City, Mitchell was floating under-the-radar a bit. He has always been known as a big time athlete in the New York area, but it wasn't until last weekend that he displayed that on such a large stage.

At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, he is a college-ready guard who can play the point guard position in spurts as well. Mitchell has attributed the move to Brewster as the major reason he has developed as rapidily as he has in the past few months.

"It's definetly helped me a lot. Going against guys like Isaac Copeland and Jarred Terrell has helped me get a lot stronger and a lot better," he said.

Schools have really begun to show a lot of interest. Boston College, Providence, Maryland, UConn, Creighton, Cincinnati, and Florida have all offered. St, John's, Seton Hall, Kansas, Fordham, Florida State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, West Virginia, and VCU all are tracking him as well.

While that already is an impressive list, more schools will certainly get involved with the talented guard as he continues to flourish during his time at Brewster.

This spring he will suit up with The City again and team with 2016 standout Wolfgang Novogratz to form a dynamic duo in the backcourt. The two have great chemistry on and off the floor and will be one of the better duos in New York.

Keep up with Future150 as we continue to track Donovan Mitchell through the high school season and AAU season.
