Deptford, NJ (Future150) -- This past weekend saw a number of the top freshman and sophomore prospects in the northeast head to southern New Jersey for the Pangos All-East camp.
Arguably the best player in the entire camp was Boubacar Diakite. A native of Mali, the big man has improved leaps and bounds since he first arrived in the states. Now he is a fantastic rebounder with great touch around the rim and out to 16 feet.
Colleges have begun to show interest, an exciting development for Diakite.
"All I know about right now is that Wake Forest has offered and the Cal-Poly coach has been in to see me," he said.
Perhaps the biggest factor in Diakite's development has been the addition of assistant coach Dave Hanson. The former Pitt graduate has taken the player development role with the team and has helped the entire team improve.
"Coach Hansen has really helped us, we had some problems with shooting, dribbling, and footwork, but we've been working out twice a day every day since the summer ended," said Diakite
One player has really helped Diakite has improved greatly as well, as he continues to fashion his game after former Our Savior New American forward, who was an all-american in his own right.
"I'm trying to get as good as Cheick (Diallo), he's like an older brother to me, we used to play one-on-one together after practice, and he's kind of the golden one right now,"
Our Savior may take a step back after losing it's top three players from a year ago. But with Diakite in the fold, the future for the program is looking very bright.
