Fort Mill, SC (Future150) -- Devin Cooper wants to play college basketball, and he's doing all the right things in his young high school career to make that happen.  The Walnut Grove (SC) guard has had an impressive start to his sophomore campaign, and it's not just the things that he's doing during games that make his future promising.

Cooper has learned at a young age the importance of creating a plan for himself.  And he's got goals in place to help him execute that plan.

"I want to play division one basketball.  I want to go high major.  I want to keep my grades up, and I want to get a 3.5 GPA," he said.

He knows what he wants, and he understands that in order to get there he must improve in specific areas.

"Right now, I'm really working on keeping the ball tight, handling it and keeping it tight to my body so nobody can strip it."

His attention to detail is impressive, and it shows on the court.

A 6' point guard, Cooper plays the game with composure and maturity.  He has a good knowledge of the game and a good feel for it, as well.

He uses changes of speed to get in the lane, and he isn't afraid of contact once he gets there.  In fact, he often initiates bumps, getting to the line in the process.

Lately, Cooper said he has seen more consistency in his jumper, and that's not hard to believe, as he shoots the ball well from all levels.  His range extends out to the arc, and he can score from all areas in between.  Owning a soft, easy release, Cooper shoots it confidently and accurately.

Cooper has yet to hear from any schools, but that's a trend that could change soon.  He wants to play college ball for all the right reasons, too.

"I want to play for the experience, the opportunity to play against the top players in the country, and for competition."

That experience may come, but in the meantime, Cooper has a plan to execute.
