Indianapolis, IN (Future150) -- Following an impressive opening weekend of the July live period, 2013 star Demetrius Jackson has already added three new offers.
On Monday, the guard out of MBA Select picked up scholarship offers from Louisville, Kansas, and Memphis.
Jackson talked to Future150 about the recent interest from the Cardinals and Jayhawks in Indianapolis.
Louisville is slated to have an impressive 2012-13 season behind the play of senior point guard Peyton Siva. However, the following season is still up in the air as far as point guard play goes.
Who will Louisville turn to as the floor general in the future?
Jackson, a 6-foot-1 point guard out of Marian, Ind. is beginning to hear from the Cardinals and Rick Pitino himself.
“Coach [Rick] Pitino has come to watch me play, and he texts me a lot,” Jackson began. “He has told me he wants a good replacement for his senior point guard (Siva). They are one of the recent schools that just came looking.”
Kansas is also a school that has recently inquired about the point guard . Jackson currently holds offers from Illinois, Florida State, Michigan State, Butler, and Notre Dame, in addition to the afforementioned three.
While he is enjoying the recruiting process, Jackson still is focused on his game.
“I like my game right now, but I know I need to keep improving. I have been working with my coach a lot,” he explained.
Jackson has shown the ability to run a team and make things happen for his teammates. It is no surprise that Pitino would turn to a local player of Jackson’s caliber to replace a talent like Siva.
But do the Cardinals have time on their side?
“I want to decide before my high school season. I would like to take some visits, narrow things down, and make a decision.”
Jackson has visited the majority of his schools that he is interested in, but he plans to make stops at two more schools.
“I want to visit Kansas and Illinois. I haven’t made trips to either of those yet.”
