Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- It has been approximately a year since 2014 Central Park Christian (Ala.) power forward Abdoulaye Gueye left Senegal for basketball opportunities in the U.S. And since his arrival, the 6-foot-9 shot-blocker has entertained tons of college coaches.
That entertainment is slowly coming to an end.
Gueye is anticipating to make his college decision at the end of this month, following an official visit to Texas Tech.
“I am visiting Texas Tech March 21-22,” Gueye told Future150.com. “After that, I am going to pick two or three schools, compare them, and then commit to the school that fits me best.”
Old Dominion, UAB, Minnesota, and Mississippi State are the other schools heavily involved with Gueye at this point in his recruitment.
A few weeks back, Gueye took an official to Minnesota. He enjoyed his time in Big 10 country.
“The visit to Minnesota was good. I watched them play Indiana. I had a chance to watch the team and talk to the coaches. It was cool.”
Throughout the recruiting process, coaches have been high on the potential that comes with Gueye’s game right now. He is skilled for his size, but he still has a long way to go. In time, he could be the modern-day prototypical 4 man that college coaches are looking for.
“Coaches tell me I am best at being a face-up 4 and blocking shots. I can take my man outside on defense and go past him. I’m really good at blocking shots. That’s my game,” he explained.
Gueye is a three-star prospect according to Future150.com.
