Orlando, FL (Future150) -- Eric Butler is the 2020 point guard of Team Parsons who is a 6'3, long, lanky, and smooth guard who controls the tempo of the game. He has an all-around game and has unbelievable vision. Sometimes too unselfish, Butler is a true PG who has scoring ability, but prefers to have games that feauture 15 points,12 assists, and 5 steals rather than just scoring 30 points per contest. Butler also plays tough-nosed on-ball defense and is always in great help position to either shoot the gaps or step up and take charges. He forces a lot of turnovers, creating open court opportunties for himself and teammates. He can play above the rim off the bounce and also catch alley-oops. Offensively, he can score on all three levels whether it be hurt you at the rim, pull-up midrange coming off a ball screen, or hitting you with a hesitation three pointer. He is one of the top players in the State of Florida after moving from Alabama going into his Sophomore year at Smiths Station High School.
Butler led his high school team, Orlando Christian Prep, to the Florida 3A State Championship game this season. He had a well-balanced performance in the game with 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 steals. Unfortunately for Butler and OCP, they fell short 64-62 to a buzzer beater in overtime. OCP returns eleven players next season to make a run for the championship game again.
