Columbia, SC (Future150) -- Crosby James, a 2019 combo guard who plays at Ridge View (SC) High School in Columbia, South Carolina is heading into his junior season with a lot of buzz around his name.
After a huge summer with Upward Stars - Columbia, he has certainly put his name on the map as one of the top-tier guard prospects in the state of SC in his class. One of the events he showed out at was at Future150's Main Event Charlotte Tournament in the 16U division, where he averaged over 15 points per game and showcased his versatility in the backcourt.
"I love Crosby's work ethic, and desire to win," Said Christian Savage, James AAU and high school coach at Ridge View. "I definitely think his game will translate to the next level because of his natural instincts that you just can't teach. Once his IQ catches up to his skill level he could have a great career playing basketball."
A solid athlete with three-way scoring abiltiies, James is the type of guard that you must have on the floor during crunch time of a close game, because you know he's going to help you win. That's just what he helped his team do at Future150's Main Event Charlotte Tournament, before falling to Carolina Pressure in the 16U championship game.
Heading into his junior season, Ridge View has lofty expectations and James will certainly be counted on to contribute and be a leader on and off the court.
"I want to get newcomer of the year, be named to the all-region team, and to win a state championship," James said when asked about what his personal expectations are for him and his team this coming season. "And I want to land an offer."
South Carolina State has took some notice in James over the summer as he attended their elite camp and showed out. This season could be a huge breakout for him as he will be playing with a loaded Ridge View squad featuring one of the top-tier big men in 2019 with Malcolm Wilson.
There's no doubt coaches will be watching James very closely, so don't be shocked if he ends his junior season with a few offers on the table. Stay locked in as we keep track of James throughout his junior season along with other standouts from our events this summer!
